“What ever it takes, that’s what I do, that’s what I’ve always done but never outside my values, they are my boundaries and safety net!”
About Me
Who am I?
I am Chris Batten: A Rainmaker, writer, speaker, mentor and serial entrepreneur.
I want to share with you my knowledge and experience, my passion is marketing and sales, from planning the strategy to the buzz of closing a sale. Building teams and making them work.
For the last 15 years I have been a mentor to over 250 businesses after leaving a very successful career in the army, completing six tours of active service duty. The early years in the army gave me the confidence, leadership and presentation skills that I have refined and use each day in business.
My greatest achievements include my successful active service tours, writing my first book, and turning around many businesses as a CEO in the UK, US and Middle East.
My claim to fame is playing rugby alongside Trevor Leota, the famed Western Samoa international and Wasps hooker. I'm amazed that I managed to play into my very late forties!
Whether in conflict, sport or business, my approach has been the same; to apply intelligence, courage and honesty wherever each is needed. I hope you enjoy the site and keep coming back to take advantage of all the complimentary information. Above all I wish you success and hope you join me in and become a member of the 'Cb Rainmaker Club.'
Kind Regards
What makes a great business?
Many elements go into making a great business, and these elements come to the fore at different times and in different circumstances.
Every business needs all of the elements to survive, but the balance between them changes regularly.
The trick? Always be in balance!
For me, the success of a great business simply depends on the ability of the leadership to have the courage to ask and seek second opinions, and always consider the full range of options.
Never be scared of making mistakes; this leads to inactivity. Show me a person in a senior leadership role who makes no mistakes and I will show you a person who does nothing.
What makes a great mentor?
Great mentors give more than their clients expect, keep giving and then give some more. The most effective mentor is one who is honest and leaves nothing unsaid.
Most people hate hearing the truth unless it strokes their ego. Keeping giant egos in check means there's more room for candour – and that's what makes an exceptional business.
