I love public speaking and have done since my early army days when I was first taught the art of presenting, albeit done with a captive audience who had to listen (particularly if I held a higher rank)! My first instructor in the art, some years ago has remained a lifelong friend. I shall always remember the help he gave me back in the day. So thanks, George T.
Since those days I have spoken as a keynote speaker for organisations on both sides to the Atlantic. As a guest presenter at business exhibitions, at education workshops for businesses, universities, and charities. I have also done more network guest slots all over the UK than I can possibly remember.
One thing I can say is, a constant feature of all the speaking events I’ve been involved in has been the six key elements to successful speaking. These are a constant feature and an essential ingredient, in my view. They are:
Have a compelling story; Make it entertaining; Think like a designer when it comes to content; Have fun; Know your objective; Know your subject inside and out
